The Service-learning Committee is a standing committee comprised of faculty and staff that will meet once a month to implement its charges. The committee is an advisory committee to CESD. Any policy or budget recommendations will be forwarded to EC for consideration upon review by CESD.
On-going Charges:
- Identify current service-learning projects within the district
- Provide a report that lists the faculty, courses, colleges, and placement agencies that are currently being utilized in service-learning
- Monitor and make improvement recommendations for web resources, student placement, classroom reflection strategies, awards and recognitions, evaluation strategies, professional development needs, and integration into courses.
2001-2002 Specific Charges:
- With the assistance of Texas Campus Compact, identify goals, content, and strategies for an Lone Star College System Service-learning program
- Identify components of program (see on-going charge #3 for examples)
- Recommend plan and timeline for development and implementation of the plan
- Begin implementing Service-learning program. The committee will continue to expand Service-learning and monitor the program for quality control.
Progress Reports:
All recommendations will be submitted in a timely manner to CESD and EC and summaries of committee meetings will be posted on the web and widely distributed. A quarterly newsletter to all employees will report progress of committee's work.
