VITA begins in Academic Building

Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program (VITA) volunteers provide free tax assistance to low income, disabled, homebound, and English as a second language taxpayers.

Beginning Saturday, Feb. 3, North Harris College will be offering the popular VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) program on Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and Monday evenings 4 to 6 p.m. in NHC’s Learning Center, ACADEMIC BUILDING room 202. This is a change from former years where the assistance was offered in the Library Building. The NHC’s Learning Center is located in the NHC’s Academic Building on the second floor. The campus is located at 2700 W.W. Thorne Blvd. This free service is sponsored by the Internal Revenue Service, the North Harris College Library Government Documents Department, and NHC’s accounting division.

Trained volunteers will be on hand through April 14 to help peopleparticularly individuals with low and limited income, individuals with disabilities, non-English speaking and elderly taxpayers to complete basic tax returns. All community members are welcome to take advantage of this service.

  • Saturday 10 am - 2 pm session dates are Feb. 3, 10, 17 and 24; March 3, 10 and 24; and Apr. 14.
  • Monday evening 4 pm - 6 pm sessions are Feb. 5, 12, 19 and 26; Mar. 5, 19 and 26; and Apr. 2 and 9.
