On the 43rd anniversary of U.S. President John F. Kennedy’s assassination, Dr. Allen Vogt, North Harris College history professor, will present a special presentation about the global impact and change resulting from the 1963 assassination and how the event continues to challenge us as a murder case, with ideas ranging from “closed case” (lone assassin theory) to “cold case” (conspiracy theories). Specific consideration will be accorded to retired LAPD detective Mark Fuhrman’s recent and intriguing claim of  “a major clue that has been ignored for forty years–a breakthrough that will change the debate over the assassination.”

The free lecture will be offered at the North Harris College•Carver Center, Wednesday Nov. 22, 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Area residents are invited to attend. Light refreshments will be served. Background
Dr. Allen R. Vogt earned his masters and doctorate degrees in U. S. history from the University of Houston and has served North Harris College as a professor of U. S. history for 28 years. He has internationalized a section of HIST 1301 with a focus on the phenomenon of revolution, particularly as affecting inter-American relations up through 1877. He is a member of the NHC’s International Education Committee and the Houston World Affairs Council, and has won two NHC Faculty Excellence Awards and three North Harris Montgomery Community College District Writing Awards. “The JFK assassination has been a virtual “obsession” with me since its 1963 occurrence; I have covered the topic in the classroom for 25 years and have made numerous public and  professional presentations on the topic,” says Dr. Vogt.
