What are the qualifications to enroll?

• You must be at least 18 years old.
• Be able to read and speak the English language sufficiently to converse with the general public, to understand highway signs and signals in the English Language, to respond to official inquiries, and to make entries on reports and records.
• You must be physically qualified to drive a commercial motor vehicle in accordance with Department of Transportation Long form physical.
• Controlled substance testing with a negative result. Acquire a learner's permit from the Department of Public Safery.
• Successfully complete the TABE test.

Will I have my CDL Class “A” license when I finish the class?

• Yes. The last portion of the program is reserved for DPS testing. This is when the Department of Public Safety issues your actual license. The first time pass rate for the DPS testing of our students is 98%.

Do I have to take part 1 and 2 of the truck-driving course?

• Yes. Both parts are required in order to meet the training standards. You will not test at DPS until both are complete.

How much is the course?

The tuition for both part 1 and part 2 is $2,412.
You will also be required to have the following before beginning class:

• Drug test $33, Physical $33
• Criminal Record Check $12
• CDL Permit $10,
• Bumper-To-Bumper textbook $41.95
• At the end of the course your license will cost $60 All of these total $2,602

Do you have night classes?

• We do not have nighttime only classes. Our weekday classes are 6 weeks Monday-Friday. The time is basically from 7:30 A.M. to 4:30 P.M. For approximately two weeks class is from 4:30 P.M. to 1:30 A.M. This allows the student to develop skills needed to maneuver the tractor-trailer safely in the dark.

Do you have weekend classes?

• Yes. Weekend classes are Saturday and Sunday for 12 weeks. Classes begin at 7:00 A.M. and end at 6:00 P.M.

Do you have financial aid assistance?

• Yes, there are several sources of financial aid. We have a Student Support Specialist on staff at the Truck Driving Academy to help you determine which source would best serve your needs.

How often do classes start?

• Weekday classes start twice a month and weekend classes once a month.

What kind of salary could I expect to make?

• First year over-the-road drivers can earn between $35,000 and $38,000.
