Dress
Participants and guests should dress comfortable and cool. Women are encouraged to wear cool, street-length dresses and low heel, dark shoes. Men are encouraged to wear dark slacks, light colored shirts and dark shoes.
North Harris College Regalia Policy
NHMCCD graduates are expected to wear regalia without altering the appearance. Academic regalia has a rich history of tradition and significance we wish to honor. Please -- no flowers (corsages), pins, stoles, or alterations to mortarboards. Graduates who have EARNED stoles through academic achievement such as, Honor’s Program or other service to the college (i.e., Phi Theta Kappa Society) will wear the college approved stoles.
All others are asked to respect he time honored traditions of graduation by wearing regalia as issued. In addition, the appropriate way to wear the mortarboard is flat on top of the head and not off to the side or fixed to the back of the head by pins.
NHMCCD Graduation Ceremony Key Reminders
- Graduation Ceremony is a time to celebrate your accomplishments
- Celebration should be respectful of other members of the graduating class
- Every graduate would like for family and friends to hear his or her name called when receiving certificate or degree
- Graduates and guests should keep talking and movement during the ceremony to a minimum
- Remember to have fun as you take this very important step towards personal and professional enrichment
Stuff to Leave At Home or In Your Car
Respect your fellow graduates no cell phones or pagers will be allowed in the auditorium.
