The NHMCCD Police Department reports to, and is controlled by, the administration of the colleges and the District, and the men and women we employ must understand and support this philosophy.

    Minimum Requirements for Application

    21 years of age

    Valid Texas Driver's License

    Sixty (60) hours from a regionally-accredited college or university for applicants with no prior law enforcement experience, thirty (30) hours for applicants with two years previous law enforcement experience

    Graduation from a TCLEOSE-approved police academy

    Acceptable criminal and driving history

    Physical and psychological ability to carry out the duties of a police officer

    Excellent written and verbal communication skills

    Attributes Not Required, But Desirable

    Prior law enforcement or security experience with a campus, healthcare, or government building protective service

    Intermediate TCLEOSE Certificate

    Specialized TCLEOSE certificates (Instructor, Crime Prevention, etc.)

    Bachelor's degree from a regionally-accredited institution.

    Note: All NHMCCD Police Officers must provide their own firearm and leather gear.
