HOUSTON (Jan. 16, 07) – The Academy at North Harris Montgomery Community College District has announced the fellows for its 2007 inaugural class. The Academy is the district’s newly formed leadership development program. It is designed to grow, support and celebrate NHMCCD's current and emerging leaders, and prepares individuals for future service to the college district, its students, and the community.
“This district is filled with talented people and I look forward to working with them as they establish themselves as leaders,” said Zack Coapland, director of The Academy. “We have put together an outstanding group of individuals for our first class and I have no doubt that this experience will show them the impact they can have on the college district and the communities we serve.”
The individuals chosen for the 2007 class include: Hope Beggan, Lawrence Brandyburg, Debra Britton, Juan Castillo, Mike Clark, Robert Coyle, Cami Davey, Sarah David, Marilyn Dement, David Dorsey, Dave Faber, Janis Fowler, Robin Garrett, Connie Garrick, Sue Jan Herber, Cliff Jones, Shannon McNees, Duy Nguyen, Suzy Page. Debra Pruitt, Jill Riethmayer, James Seymour, Brian Shmaefsky, Emelyn Stalnaker, Jacqueline Stirling, Christina Todd, Marie Underdown, and Glen Wood.
The Academy requires that fellows devote exclusive attention, free of institutional and job commitments, to the monthly, day-long growth experiences, such as case studies, readings, or individual leadership development plans. The year-long program also includes a three-day residential retreat, and a two-day trip to Austin. In addition, they will participate in mentoring and coaching experiences and a group project or activity.
