For tuition purposes, students who enroll in North Harris Montgomery Community College District will be classified in one of four categories: in-district resident, out-of-district resident, non-resident of Texas or international student. The legal residence of each applicant for admission will be determined by the admissions office. Verification of residence will be required.

The following descriptions briefly explain the residency requirements specified in Texas statutes, in the rules and regulations of the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board and in the policies of the North Harris Montgomery Community College District. More detailed information on residency classification may be obtained in the admissions office or in the 2001 - 2002 North Harris Montgomery Community College District Catalog .

In-District Resident

A student who has been a resident of Texas for the 12 months before the date of registration and who resides in the North Harris Montgomery Community College District (this coincides with the boundaries of the independent school districts of Aldine, Cy-Fair, Conroe, Humble, Klein, Magnolia, New Caney, Splendora, Spring, Tomball, and Willis) on the official reporting date is considered a resident of the district.

Out-of-District Resident

A student who has been a Texas resident for the 12 months before the date of registration and who resides beyond the boundaries of the North Harris Montgomery Community College District is considered an out-of-district resident.

Non-Resident of Texas

A student younger than 18 who lives away from his or her family and whose family resides in another state or whose family has not resided in Texas for the 12 months before the date of registration is considered a non-resident of Texas. A student older than 18 who resides out-of-state or who has not been a resident of the state for the 12 months before the date of registration is also considered a non-resident of Texas.
