 | ABOUT OUR INSTRUCTORS |
 |
 |
 |
Who teaches at the GTTC? The instructors at the Geoscience Technology Training Center have a variety of backgrounds, but all come out of the oil and gas industry or from related/supporting industries. Each instructor is currently using the software product they teach at their job and is, therefore, able to provide superior insight into the use of that application in data management and acquisition, exploration, and/or production. Students at the GTTC benefit from both the technical expertise of the instructors and from the fact that each one is here because they enjoy teaching! Our instructors use a combination of the following teaching strategies to develop and hone the students' understanding of the software application and their ability to use it effectively on the job:
Lecturing
Prepared notes with practical, applicable exercises used in the class
Demonstration of correct and alternate hardware and software manipulation techniques
Guided practice
Case studies

Could YOU be an instructor at the GTTC? The GTTC is always on the lookout for individuals interested in teaching one of our existing courses or teaching a new course. Most of our instructors only teach one or two classes per semester, totalling 16 to 48 actual clock hours of teaching time. While the extra income is always an incentive, our instructors say they also benefit from this experience in a variety of other ways, including...
Great networking opportunities with fellow geoscientists
Further developing their own knowledge of the software
Learning new "tricks" and gaining new perspectives from their students
Fulfilling the life-long goal of being a teacher
Personal satisfaction of helping another geoscientist
Personal satisfaction of helping North Harris College and giving something valuable back to the community.
