General web browsing will not be affected?
Hi Garett,
What happens when users attempt to access our site during times like these? Do they receive an error page? Or do they receive a screen that informs them the site is undergoing routine maintenance and should be available at such and such a time? Edited by jjauma on Sep 14, 2006 at 02:04 PM
Perhaps as far as 'more marketing boxes, i.e. two rows of three' we might consider creating a few different templates from which to choose.
For example, a college may choose two rows of three, but, when there are slower periods and fewer things to advertise, they may switch to three boxes again.
Just as i worry about not having decent space to share meaningful items, i worry about having to fill decent space with meaningless fluff.
Cynthia, that is super interesting. Unlike what i had imagined might happen. I really like it. The only issue i can see people raising is that the links still appear 'beneath the fold' when the page loads, at least in my browser. But i think it is great.
My feeling, Bruce, is that a presence in Quicklinks and a presence in the footer is two spots on the Home Page and that is plenty, more than other very important entities.
Tomball has always rotated our boxes, so no one got used to our permanent presence in a marketing box. But i imagine, after the initial stink, folks will get used to your change, get used to accessing eCampus in a different way, and the storm will die down.
Obviously, the decision is yours and Andres. Perhaps i'm wrong and your users would rather have that easy access to eCampus than news on upcoming events. Perhaps they would be better served with the eCampus box there.
But i wouldn't relent until they complain for a certain length of time and it is evident that that is what would best suit your users. My guess is that they won't break you.
Hi Bruce.
I receive these notifications when they are made, so i'm sure there is some way to get you hooked up.
There is a 'Customize Quick Links' folder at the bottom of my root page.
My email address is listed in the "~Contact" text brick. It sits within asterisks. Perhaps you could add your address there.
Incredible work, Bruce. I admire your achievements thus far on this project and look forward to being continually awed in the future. Kudos!
