I have not been involved with any of it either. I have kinda heard about it, seen announcements, but no one has given me any official word on how it will impact our site(s).

Is this being sent as a district-wide email blast? And I to understand that general web browsing of the site will not be affected? If so, I suppose putting it in the site-wide header.

We have not, but I will check with the department to see if they have plans, and if so, what vendor they are looking at. Perhaps this should be a district-wide (or at least colleg-wide) effort since we all have similar needs?

http://www.rooneal.nhmccd.cc/blog/

This is the link to my blog that I set up through the tools/services that all employees have access to ... forget who/office I spoke to over there that helped me set it up, but I told Elisa I would dig up the info and share.

We get like 50MBs each and can set up blogs, listserves, etc.

Yes, two rows with three columns would be great.

As for the agenda, John already has my items and I 'think' Elisa's too.

I like that you've used up some of that white space which to me has been wasted. I echo Elisa, not sure I like the curved look too much.

I think when we initially discussed this, we were looking for a quick fix that could easily happen in the overlay to quell those concerned about eCampus (and possibly MyRecords) not getting enough real estate. Also, can the height of the marketing boxes be decreased so that we could have more than three (3)?

Personally, I want my marketinig boxes back. We have 9 items rotating, but only ONE (1) box rotates, so many things go unnoticed on the site.

Virginia Rigby, librarian, just informed me that the tool they used was LinkBot. Has anyone heard of it. But she goes on to say she had been told it doesn't work within Estrada.

Glad I'm not alone ... NHC Library used to have some tool that they used to check pages, but for some reason they said it stopped working with our pages.

I'll check to see what it was.

I know this is going to sound lame (and slackerish), but because I have so many other things going on I usually rely on someone e-mailing me that there is a problem. Not very proactive I realize.

Also, there are times (very rarely) when I just roam the site and go through different divisions/departments just looking for consistency and errors and come across tons of things (not just links) that need fixing. **What fun...**

Anyhow, if there is an application or script that we can run to catch bad links, I would be very interested. NHC Library has tons of links in their various reference pages that often need updating and Virginia Rigby has raised this concern to me, but I did not know (if) we had a tool to catch these bad links.

I'm open for just about anything.

Agreed. I have a meeting this Wednesday with Garrett also. I would suggest we put forth a list of the things we want addressed.

From the looks of it, Estrada 2.0 is going to consume time and attention for the immediate future, so we must keep putting forth an effort for our concerns to be addressed timely.

Better for us to keep pressing than for them to be forgotten altogether.

If we decide we cannot meet, could we block out times for (a) phone conference(s)?

As we have just a few power users (most of our authors fall into occassional user category) I think as much training for all NHC users would be warranted.

As a coordinator, I would like to know:

1. When will we be trained on all the new features
2. When will we have access to a staging area to 'play' with the new version

We do not have a lot of lead time if we indeed intend to launch on October 1 (October 2nd is Monday) and so time is very critical to not only schedule training for ourselves, but for our users.

Makes sense I suppose.

Gotcha.

Yeah, I saw the redundant links (I would vote to remove them too, but I am just one voice), but could live with them if those other two were more prominently placed. But yes, agreed ... this whole matter will need to be discussed with other stakeholders.

By the way, do you have any idea how long this particular process might take?

Discussions » eCampus Aug 30, 2006 09:36 AM (Total replies: 38)

Andre likes that list too ... he suggests, as I have, that we have the most prominent placement for eCampus and MyRecords.

Discussions » eCampus Aug 30, 2006 09:27 AM (Total replies: 38)

Would it be that order or would you mind if eCampus and MyRecords are the top two links?

Andre also pointed out to me (I had not really noticed before) that NHMCCD has a completely different overlay as well that already includes eCampus (or was this recently added?).

That being the case, a precendent exists for inclusion of eCampus on the overlay, and I don't think it would be too difficult to lobby for MyRecords to be included on it as well.

That is, of course, if everyone agrees...

I added this as an agenda item and hope it gets discussed tomorrow.

I think that would be a wonderful idea.

I've always thought the overlay on the photos would be a nice place to add those two services. It gives prominence to two must-have services without changing much.

I've wondered why we have Employees and Job Seekers on that overlay as they are already located in the header?
