The U.S. Department of Education and the U.S. Department of State have proclaimed November 12-16, 2001, International Education Week. This initiative provides an opportunity to promote and celebrate the benefits of international education and exchange worldwide. It is part of the government�s effort to encourage policies and programs that prepare Americans for a global environment and attract future leaders from abroad to study in the United States.

The week of of November 12 - 16, 2001 will be observed as International Education Week at North Harris College.

As part of the International Education Week initiative, North Harris College through its Center for International Education and Languages and the Office of Multicultural Services has planned a series of activities geared towards celebrating the richness of the different cultural values and attitudes of our community. Activities include flamenco and classical guitar performances, an African drummer, an intercultural communication workshop, a folklore ballet, a World Choir, a Readers Theatre presentation of international folk tales, an international menu in the cafeteria, a teleconference on International Education, and a food drive to benefit needy members of our community.
