Students may drop credit hours and add credit hours without financial penalty until official day of record if all requirements in each category are met:

For equal credit hour changes:

  1. The drop and add must be of equal credit hours and be for courses within the same term.
    Example: drop 3 hrs/add 3 hrs.
  2. The drop and add must be completed before each class's official day of record, NHMCCD requires special approval for a student to add a class after the class has Met one time. The official day of record for fall 2001 semester length courses is Sept. 10. Questions regarding official day of record for other courses may be referred to your college business office.
  3. The drop and add transactions are best made simultaneously, but must be completed the same calendar day.

For unequal credit hour changes:

  1. The drop and add must be for courses within the same term.
  2. The drop and add must be completed before each class's official day of record. The official day or record for fall 2001 semester-length courses is Sept. 10. NHMCCD requires special approval for a student to add a class after the class has met one time. Questions regarding official day of record for other courses may be referred to your college business office.
  3. The drop and add transactions are best made simultaneously, but must be completed the same calendar day.
  4. When the credit hours dropped are greater than the credit hours added, the refund schedule will be applied to the net charges being dropped. When the credit hours added are greater than the credit hours dropped, the student pays the net additional charges at the time of the exchange.

Return of Title IV funds:

Special refund policies apply to students who have received either exemption at registrations or cash awards from financial assistance programs. Title IV (Federal Pell Grant, SEOG, FFE Loans) aid recipients may be subject to returning a portion of their Title IV aid upon complete withdrawal of classes. For further information, please contact the financial aid office or refer to the financial aid section in the 2001-2002 North Harris Montgomery Community College District Catalog.

Refunds for tuition are mailed from the NHMCC District office four to six weeks after the official day of record. Refunds for classes scheduled outside the sessions listed in this section will be made on a prorated basis in accordance with the refund policy.
