The North Harris College police officers patrol the campus around the clock 365 days a year. In case of a general emergency, dial ext. 5555; the police officers are the first point of contact. During campus hours, you can reach an officer by dialing 0 and the college switchboard operator or night administrator will radio them directly.
In case of a serious or potentially serious medical emergency, dial 9-911 to reach an external emergency response team (police, firefighters, EMTs); then follow up by dialing ext. 5555 or 0 to reach an on-campus officer. Many of our part-time officers are professional firefighters or paramedics and are trained in responding to medical emergencies.
In the case of a campus crisis - such as an act of God or accident - the emergency management response team may be called to implement a emergency management response plan. The team will meet in a designated, safe spot with backup electrical and communications systems to coordinate actions.

Emergency response binder
Each EMRT member will have a copy of the emergency response binder in the office, at home and in the car.
Additional copies will be housed at the switchboard, in the president's office, in the police office, in the physical plant and in the vault. The binder will include all necessary
emergency policies and procedures

confidential emergency contact information
The plan and the information in the binder will be updated by the director of safety at least every July or more frequently, at the direction of the president or EMRT.
Emergency Response Center (EMC)
The emergency management response team (EMRT) will meet in a designated, secure location to coordinate actions. The team will immediately report to:

As a backup location, particularly if there is danger of breaking glass or if the administrative area is not safe, the team will report to:

These locations each have:
backup electrical outlets powered by the emergency generator
backup telephone jacks
plug-in analog telephones, primarily for outgoing calls
answering machine with battery back-up
police radios
computers and digital telephones
Emergency response evaluation
Within 10 days after the emergency has been resolved, the EMRT will meet to evaluate the effectiveness of the emergency management response plan.
