It's a 5 part test:
Writing Skills/essay2 hours
Social Studies1 hour, 25 minutes
Science1 hour, 35 minutes
Literature1 hour, 5 minutes
Math1 hour, 30 minutes
WHAT IS A PASSING SCORE?
A score of at least a 40 on each part AND a total of 225 points
SuzieTom
Writing 4241
Soc. St. 4049
Science 4251
Literature 4148
Math4038
TOTAL205227

In this example, both students would need to retake some or all of the GED Test. Tom would have to retake Math and get at least a 40 on it. Suzie passed all parts of the test, but needs 20 more points overall to get her GED diploma. She can retake as many parts as she chooses in order to gain points to pass.

WHAT IF I HAVE TO RETEST?

It is recommended that the examinee prepare for re-testing by studying at an adult education program or with a certified teacher. The examinee will receive a re-test letter that must be presented at the time of registration. Without a re-test letter the waiting period to re-test is 6 months.

Results of the GED Test taken at other test centers must be sent to NHC Community Education by mail. Re-takes cannot be taken until the test report is received from the forwarding test center.

WHAT IS THE COST OF THE TEST?

Full Test (3 -5 parts):$80.00
Partial Test (1- 2 parts):$30.00

  • 17 year olds MUST have written parental permission and a copy of high school withdrawal form. 16 year olds can test only IF they have a court order requiring them to test NO EXCEPTIONS!!!!

WHAT IS TEST DAY LIKE?

Bring with you on both test days:
