HOW CAN I GET STARTED?

  1. Never attended any college:
    1. Be a high school graduate or have your GED (see GED info below)
    2. Complete and return admissions application. Applications may be picked up at any North Harris Community College or found in the back of the credit schedule. Documentation for residency must be provided (i.e. valid TDL, TID, lease agreement, voter registration card, etc.)
    3. See financial aide office to determine eligibility for grants, loans and scholarship information.
    4. Bring all test scores or make arrangements to take tests, if required.
    5. Visit with counselor/advising office at your college.
    6. Attend new student information session
  2. I've attended a different college:
    1. Follow steps 1-3 above.
    2. See financial aide office to determine eligibility for grants, loans and scholarship information.
    3. Bring copies of transcripts or grade reports of previous college work. All official transcripts must be in before the semester is completed.
  3. I haven't finished high school
    1. Obtained GED - Follow steps 1-4 above
    2. Did not graduate; not attending high school (contact admissions office concerning individual approval and information on obtaining the GED).
    3. Still attending high school - see college admissions office for exceptional admission information.

GED INFORMATION

  • Test costs $70.00 and the partial test is $30.00 and must be paid for at time of registration. Students must register a week in advance.
  • Must have current TX picture ID & Social Security Card
  • 16 year olds can register only if they have a court order
  • 17 year olds must have parental permission forms signed and withdrawal forms from last school attended.
  • New students must complete orientation class before enrolling in GED classes
  • Students must enroll on the first day of an orientation session and complete all 12 hours.
