STANDARDS OF ACADEMIC PROGRESS

1. Evaluation Criteria:

· Overall Grade Point Average

i. Many programs require a cumulative GPA of 2.00 or higher

· Remedial Hours, excluding ESL classes

i. Cannot exceed 30 hours

· Attempted – vs – Completed rate

i. Complete a minimum of 70% of the classes attempted

ii. Grades of F, I, IP, and/or W count as attempted but not completed

· Maximum Time Frame

i. Based on the declared major on file with the Admissions Office

ii. Based on 150% of the program’s required hours for completion of your specific certificate or degree

2. Types of Student Statuses:

· 1 – First Time Student

i. New student

· 2 – Continuing Student

i. Students with at least a 2.00 cumulative GPA

ii. Students with at least a 70% or higher completion rate

iii. Students who have not exceeded the maximum time frame

· 3 – Warning

i. Students with at least a 2.00 cumulative GPA

ii. Students who have not maintained at least a 70% completion rate

· 4 – Probation

i. Students who were previously on Warning and still have not maintained at least a 70% completion rate

· 5 – Probation with No Loans

i. Students with a cumulative GPA of less than 2.00

· 6 – Suspension Developmental

i. Students who have exceeded 30 remedial hours excluding ESL classes

· 7 – Suspension Maximum Time Frame

i. Students who have exceeded the 150% maximum time frame for their particular program of study

· 8 – Suspension Academic

i. Students who are currently on academic suspension with the Counseling Office

· 9 – Suspension Professional Judgment (included, but not limited to…)

i. Students who have been on warning and probation and have not shown any progress

ii. Students who completely withdraw from classes forcing the college to return Title IV aid on their behalf
