Procedure for Advanced Placement Credit in CSCI 1401
Students who wish to receive credit by examination for CSCI 1401 may pick up the "Application for Prior Learning Assessment by Examination" form from the Counseling Office.
Requirements for Testing:
Students must be enrolled in the North Harris Montgomery Community College District at the time advanced credit is awarded. Credit will be given with a CR designation on the student's transcript upon successful completing a minimum of six semester credit hours at NRMCCD. Students receiving credit by examination in technical courses must complete a minimum of six semester hours in the same discipline at NHMCCD.
All credit by examination must be equated with a NHMCCD course number and description.
If credit by examination is used in lieu of prerequisite courses, a student must take the test before the official day of record for that semester.
Students may receive a maximum of 18 semester hours of credit by examination. Exam credit for more than three courses in one subject area requires special approval by the vice president of education programs and resources.
Credit by examination will be recorded on the Student's official transcript without grade equivalent or inclusion in the student's GPA.
Applicable test fees must be paid in advance.
The above stated policies for credit by examination and advanced standing are subject to change. For more information, contact the Computer Information System Department.
