How do you start?
Once you decide to begin college, you can get started by visiting North Harris College, which is located at 2700 W.W. Thorne, a mile south of FM1960, between Aldine-Westfield and Hardy Roads.
You will take these four easy steps to begin college:
- Admissions: Fill out an application for admission to North Harris College. Bring proof of residency, such as a driver's license with your correct address, and transcripts from any other colleges you have attended.
- Testing: Take the free ASSET test offered at North Harris College to determine your placement in math and English classes.
- Counseling and Advising: Based on your previous academic transcript, placement test results and past experience, a trained adviser will assist you in choosing courses to begin your college education and accomplish your personal goals. You can obtain an associate's degree or a technical certificate, enhance your jobs skills, change careers or transfer to a university.
- Registration: You can register for classes during one of the college's registration periods.

What programs and services are available to you as a student?
As a North Harris College student, you can take advantage of many resources and services, including free use of computer labs, tutoring and library services. During the semester, take part in wellness and sports activities, attend fine arts events and join any of the many student groups on campus.
- Admissions / Registrar / Transcripts
Located in the Academic Building, A-101, the Office of Admissions will admit you to the college and start you on the registration process.
- Book Store
Located on the south side of campus next to the Student Center, the Book Store sells books and other articles.
- Business Office
Located in the Academic Building, A-112, the Business Office accepts payment for tuition and fees.
- Cafeteria
Located near the center of campus in the Student Center, the cafeteria serves meals throughout the day and in the evening.
- Job Center/CareerStart
Located in the Academic Building, A-106, the Office of Career Placement offers information on full-and part-time jobs.
- College Police
The college police patrol the campus 24 hours a day and will escort students to their cars. To reach the college police in an emergency, dial 5555 from any college office phone or 281.618.5555 from any phone.
- Corporate and Continuing Education
Corporate and Continuing Education is in the CE Building, which is between the Fine Arts and HPE Buildings. Non-credit courses are available in a variety of academic, vocational and recreational areas.
- Computer Laboratories
Computer laboratories are also available on campus for free student use. Assistants are on hand to help.
- Counseling
The Office of Counseling Services, A-104, provides academic and personal counseling to students and offers workshops throughout the year.
- Dean
In the Library Building, Suite LB-105, the Dean will see students by appointment.
- Developmental Studies Lab
The Developmental Studies Lab offers assistance with math, reading and writing. The DS Lab, which has writing tutors available, is located on the second floor of the Academic Building and is open seven days a week during fall and spring semesters.
- Financial Aid
Located in the Academic Building, A-102, the Office of Financial Aid handles grants, loans, scholarships and college work-study.
- Gallery
Located in the Library Building, the Gallery hosts exhibits from regionally and nationally recognized artists. Also exhibits student work.
- Gym
The HPE Division also offers open gymnasium and weight room use during the week and Saturdays.

Monday - Thursday 7 - 9 a.m. & 2 -8 p.m.
Friday 7 -9 a.m. & 11 - 8 p.m.
Saturday 12 - 4 p.m.
- Learning Resource Center
The LRC, located in the second floor of the Academic Building's central hallway, allows students to check out books and other materials and to review reference publications. The LRC is open seven days a week during fall and spring semesters.Also has computers for student and community use.

Off-campus Sites
North Harris College-Carver Center, which encompasses The Aldine Center, is located across from G.W.Carver High School, with a fall 1996 completion. Credit and non-credit courses are now offered at Carver, as well as sites throughout north Houston and Aldine. 281.618.5800.
North Harris College-Parkway Center, 16416 Northchase, near I-45 and the Beltway, offers credit and non-credit courses.
