A. A. S. Degrees and Enhancement Skill Certificates are available to those individuals completing the Child Care Development Associate of Applied Science Degree, Tech Prep.

Montessori Certificate - Advanced

The Montessori Certificate - Advanced- is for the student who enters the program with a related Bachelors degree or advanced degree. This certificate stands alone to offer the option of achieving the advanced skills necessary for the American Montessori Society credentialing process.

CDA (Child Development Associate)

The CDA (Child Development Associate) is awarded by the Council for Early Childhood Professional Recognition. It is available with a specific setting and age level endorsement; center-based preschool (3, 4, 5 year olds), center-based infant toddler (birth to age 3) and family daycare (birth through age 5). The CDA Preparation Certificate allows the student to prepare for the credentialing process, through the National Center for Professional Recognition, NAEYC.

The general education core courses and selected child development courses will transfer to a variety of universities. Students may have earned some college credits while in high school through articulation if they enroll within one year of graduation. Contact a program administrator or child development faculty member at North Harris College for specific information.

Kinesiology

The one credit hour courses KINE 1111-1184 and 2111 - 2184 are 'activity courses'. One activity course is required for all Associate of Arts and Associate of Science degrees at North Harris Montgomery County College District. Listed activity courses will transfer as a required physical activity course or as an elective to other colleges and universities. KINE 1301, 1304 and 1306 are three credit hour courses (not activity courses) and may transfer as required courses for Health & Fitness, Kinesiology, Sports & Wellness or other comparable majors or as an elective.
