Tuskegee Airmen to speak at North Harris College Oct. 17

Article Body

Members of the famed World War II Tuskegee Airmen will make a special presentation at North Harris College on Wednesday, October 17, 7 p.m. in the college’s teaching theater, Academic Building, room A-126. The community is invited to attend this free event. The Tuskegee Airmen, the first black fighter squadron in history and Congressional Medal of Honor recipients, flew in air combat over North Africa and Italy during World War II. These pioneer aviators had one of the most distinctive records of all the WWII air squadrons and were nicknamed the “Red Tails” by U.S. bomber crews they protected. “The success of this squadron influenced President Harry Truman to integrate the U.S. military” says Dr. Theresa McGinley, event coordinator. The event is free to the community, but seating is limited. For more information, contact Dr. McGinley at 281.618.5586.
