Is it just coincidence that English Professor Dr. Marvin Williams disappears from the campus mid-December and returns mid-January? Some people at North Harris College don’t think so. Dr. Williams, who has distinct features of the most popular icon of the Christmas season, always gets a second look as he heads down the hallways. But, in addition to his educational work, Dr. Williams appears as a certain jolly, red-suited character at various family gatherings, neighborhood associations, local hospitals, the VFW in Conroe, the American Legion in Willis, Armstrong Elementary in Conroe, and other events during the winter holiday season. His most recent appearance was with a Fire Department group who visited the Tallowwood Subdivision on Dec. 15. Dr. Williams, a native of Memphis, has taught English for the past 35 years, including 10 years at UT-Austin, then the University of New Orleans, then UT-Brownsville, now at NHC for the past 20 years. He enjoys travel, hanging out with his London-born wife Barbara, and playing with his three grandchildren Ashton, Iain, and Eric.
