Individualized instruction in the form of tutoring can be an effective tool for helping students achieve their learning goals.
The NHC Tutor Certification Program provides quality tutorial services for our students and recognizes and promotes outstanding scholarship leadership in our peer and professional tutors.
Certification Levels
Benefits of Becoming a Certified Tutor:
If a tutor successfully completes all requirements and is granted certification, he/she will
- Receive a certificate
- Be recognized as a Certified Tutor by the NHC Tutor Certification Program and by the College Reading & Learning Association's International Tutor Certification Program (CRLA)
Level I:
- 10 hours of tutor training
- 25 hours of tutoring experience
- Satisfactory evaluation from tutor coordinator (to include tutoring session observation, self evaluation, and student feedback)
Level II:
- 10 additional hours of tutor training
- 25 additional hours of tutoring experience
- Satisfactory evaluation from tutor coordinator (to include tutoring session observation, self evaluation, and student feedback)
Level III:
- 10 additional hours of tutor training plus a special project
- 25 additional hours of tutoring experience
- Satisfactory evaluation from tutor coordinator (to include tutoring session observation, self evaluation, and student feedback)
