Nurse Aide
This course provides a quick entry into healthcare field with no experience required. Nurse aides work in a long-term care facility or in acute care hospital settings.

Medication Aide Program
This course is offered to those students employed for at least 90 days at a Medicare or Medicaid nursing facility. A medication aide works under the supervision of a nurse in a long-term care facility to administer medication to inpatient residents.


Phlebotomy Technician Program
A phlebotomy technician works in a hospital lab or diagnostic clinic performing such tasks as blood-drawing, specimen collection, and venipuncture.

Electrocardiography Technician
ECG technicians use an electrocardiogram machine (an electronic monitor that reads a patient's heart rhythms through electrodes placed on the patient's skin) to study heart rates and activity. They help diagnose heart disease and analyze changes to patients' hearts over time.

Emergency Medical Technician
This course is an introduction to emergency medical technician which includes all of the skills necessary to provide emergency medical care at a basic life support level with an ambulance service or other specialized services. Included in this course are the theory and skills for Texas Department of Health certification.

Home Health Aide Program
Home health aides are urgently needed as the result the growing aging population in Texas. Lone Star College-North Harris offers a 75-hour, 2-week course leading to certification.

Certified Personal Trainer Program
This exciting and financially-rewarding career helps others to obtain their lifelong health and fitness goals. Classes include exercise science for the personal trainer, personal training, nutrition, and CPR.

Group Exercise Instructor Certification Program
The ACE Group Fitness Instructor certification is for individuals wanting to become fitness professionals teaching any form of exercise in a group setting. Passing the ACE Group Fitness Instructor certification exam means that you have demonstrated your knowledge of anatomy, kinesiology, exercise physiology, instructional techniques and injury prevention.

Nursing Refresher
This 16-week traditional classroom course is designed for the:

  1. Currently licensed RN or LVN who has been away from the clinical setting for a period of time;

  2. RN or LVN who is applying for reinstatement of licensure; or

  3. RN or LVN who is applying for Texas licensure coming from another state.
