1. Complete and return Admissions Application found in the back of the schedule.
2. See Financial Aid office for grants, scholarships or loans (see page 10).
3. Bring all test scores or make arrangements to take tests if required (see testing below)
4. Bring a copy of your high school transcript if a recent high school graduate.
5. Attend new student information session (see counseling & advising office at your college).

• Fill out a "New Student" application packet and return it to the ADMISSIONS OFFICE (A-105).
• Sign in to see an ACADEMIC ADVISOR in the COUNSELING OFFICE (A-104).
• Take COMPASS test after meeting with an ACADEMIC ADVISOR.
• Take New Student Information Session (NSIS). The NSIS requirement can be satisfied by any one of the following:
  1. Scheduled lecture.
  2. View it on a computer in Academic 104, counseling office - there is limited space available, or on a computer in Academic 200, Open Computer Lab. Check out NSIS CD from library to view at home, CD can only be checked out for a period of one week. (If you choose to view the NSIS at home, please ensure that you print your CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION.)
• Sign in to meet with an ACADEMIC ADVISOR to review your test scores and to discuss scheduling recommendations.
• Complete scheduling section of registration form.
• Return to the ADVISING AREA (A-105) in the ADMISSIONS OFFICE to register for classes.
• Pay for classes in BUSINESS OFFICE (A-103).

I've attended a different college:
Bring copies of transcipts or grade reports of previous college work. Official transcipts must be in before the semester is completed. If your native language is not English, you should take the CELT test. See the Counseling/Advising Office to take the CELT test.

Proof of Residency

You must apply for admission before you can register. Applications for admission can be picked up at any NHMCCD college (and can be found in the back of the schedule). You must submit a completed application and present documented proof of residency.

One or more of the following items - which is at least one year old and is in your name - will provide proof of state residency and must be presented to the admissions office for verification.

• Texas high school transcript (within one year)
• Texas college or university transcript
• Permanent Texas Driver's License
• Employer statement with date of employment and residence on letterhead
• Lease agreement which includes your name
• Deed to home in which you reside
• Utility bill with in-district address
• Texas Voter Registration Card
• Payroll check stub with in-district address

Items presented for proof of Texas residency must be at least one year old. Proof of in-district residency must be verified. Contact the college admissions office for a list of additional items which will document residence status.

Testing

If you are a first-time college student or a transfer student, you will need to see an adviser to determine if you need the TASP test or testing for placement into college courses.

If your native language is not English, you should take the CELT test. See the Counseling Office to take the CELT test.

Exceptional Admissions

High school seniors and others enrolling through the exceptional admissions program: Pick up and return an exceptional admission approval form with high school principal and parent signatures, TAAS, TASP, ACT, SAT or ASSET scores and a high school transcript.
