GRADING STANDARDS

The academic standards of North Harris College are based on a philosophy of maximizing student progress toward successful course and program completion. Recognizing that academic success in college requires maturity and dedication to regular and well-defined study habits, the academic standards criteria are designed to monitor student progress and to allow college staff to intervene and provide assistance to students who have difficulty meeting minimum requirements for a successful course or program completion.

B Good Performance
C Acceptable Performance
D Passing
F Failing
I Incomplete
W Incomplete
IP Course in progress

Community Education:

Continuing Education Units (CEUs) are awarded for successful completion of the courses. CEUs are recognized internationally as a measure of substantive professional education and training. One CEU is 10 contact hours of successful articipation/completion in an organized continuing education experience under responsible sponsorship, capable direction, and qualified instruction. Students receive certificates upon completion of their Intensive English courses. If they have satisfactorily completed the course, the certificate will award 8.0 CEUs. Otherwise, a certificate of attendance is awarded upon the student's request.
