LVN TRANSITION ADMISSION CRITERIA

  • Complete all admission requirements as a full-time student to NHMCCD including submission of official transcripts from all non-NHMCCD colleges and universities attended.

  • Pass TASP or be Exempt from TASP

  • Prior to application, complete the following courses with an average GPA of 2.5 or higher:
    BIOL 2401   Human Anatomy and Physiology I
    BIOL 2402   Human Anatomy and Physiology II
    BIOL 2420   Microbiology
    PSYC 2301   General Psychology
    PSYC 2314   Lifespan Growth & Development
    ENGL 1301   Composition and Rhetoric I
    RNSG 1301   Pharmacology
    A grade below a C in any course required in the Associate Degree Nursing degree plan will not be accepted.

    * Biology courses submitted for program credit must be completed no more than five (5) years prior to admission to the program. No Biology course may be repeated for a grade change (including a W or I) more than once during the same five (5) year period.

  • Submit a complete application packet, including pre-admission checklist, advising profile, academic evaluation for nursing, and testing fee of $25 to the Nursing Advisor in Winship 160A by March 1, 2004.
  • Complete the standardized Nursing Pre-entrance Exam. The cost of the test is $25 and is the responsibility of the applicant. All Nursing applicants must take the Pre-entrance Exam. There are NO EXCEPTIONS!
  • Current Texas LVN license
  • Current LVN employment, OR graduation from a vocational/practical nursing program within the past 5 years. Graduates who are more than 5 years out of school will be counseled and evaluated on an individual basis.
