 Production Technology: Art to Part
NHC partners with manufacturers to host unique manufacturing demonstration

North Harris College will host a “Production Technology: Art to Part” expo on Thursday, May 2, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the college’s applied technology center located at 2700 W.W. Thorne Drive.

The free event is open to all business and community members and will showcase today’s newest technologies where design idea meets design production. Mechanical design and manufacturing technology will be demonstrated, including solids modeling, FEA analysis, rapid prototyping, Computer Numeric Controlled (CNC) programming and computer-aided design (CAD).

Champion Machine Tool Sales, Inc., MLC Corporation and other NHC industry partners will also be event hosts. Champion Machine Tool Sales will be on hand to demonstrate the HAAS CNC machines and MLC Corporation will be exhibit rapid prototyping, and an application of MasterCAM and Solid works Cosmos.

“There are several reasons for hosting this specialized event,” says Dr.Larry Brillhart, NHC’s associate dean of applied technology. “We would like to expose both potential industry partners and prospective students to today’s manufacturing technologies from a continuum perspective. Additionally, the event will educate local industry to the instructional programs of North Harris College-and explain how community colleges meet and exceed industry workforce training needs as new technologies develop.”
