General Course Procedures
Clothing
Clothing should fit comfortably and allow free movement of the various body parts. Select clothing according to air temperature, humidity, and exercise intensity. Avoid nylon and rubberized materials, and tight clothes that interfere with body cooling in warm weather. Dress in layers on cool days. A good pair of comfortable walking or jogging shoes is necessary.
Contract Guidelines - Walking, Jogging and Cycling
Evaluation
FALL & SPRING -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- SUMMER
56 or more -- -- -- -- (100-90 = A) -- -- -- 50 or more
55 - 52 -- -- -- -- -- -- (89-80 = B) -- -- -- 49 - 45
51 - 48 -- -- -- -- -- -- (79-70 = C) -- -- -- 44 - 40
47 - 43 -- -- -- -- -- -- (69-60 = D) -- -- -- 39 - 35
Due to the nature of this self-discipline class, students should be attentive to maintaining the required number of workouts per week. This should be done not only to make a good grade but also in order to prevent any physical problems on the day of skills testing that could be attributed to lack of preparation.
Communication Modes
Students with a disability need to self-identify themselves to the instructor. Adaptations can be made to the testing procedures.
The American College of Sports Medicine recommends a medical exam prior to vigorous exercise for men over the age of 40 and women over the age of 50.
