Use of the Internet and of other networks is restricted to educational research and information exchange. Students are allowed to access only information which is appropriated for use in an educational setting and at the age and grade appropriate level.

The computer networks of North Harris College have no filter system to block access to inappropriate sights. Therefore, each student is responsible for using the Internet in a responsible manner.

Parent permission is required for students to have Internet access. Students using North Harris College computers must comply to the following rules:

• Students shall use North Harris College computers only for educationally appropriate activities. Students shall not use computers for private purposes or to gain access to indecent or obscene information or information which promotes illegal, unethical, or immoral activities. Disciplinary procedures will be taken on any student violating this rule.
• Students shall not use North Harris College computers to transmit vulgar or sexually explicit language or to annoy, harass, stalk, or threaten other users.
• Students shall not gain access to, use, rename, erase, alter, or manipulate another person's computer files, programs, or disks.

Access to North Harris College computer equipment depends on a student's behavior. The Upward Bound staff may deny, revoke or suspend a student's access to the Internet if a student fails to abide by the above rules.
