We provide a learning environment conducive for our students to achieve their educational goals. Our students are from diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender, and ethnic backgrounds. They take classes at the W.W. Thorne campus, the Carver and Parkway Centers, at one of our sister colleges, on-line, and at several of the corporate offices in the area. In short, we work with all who walk through our doors to meet their educational objectives.

Tomball College is proud to be a one of three sites selected for the Women Tech Community College Project funded by a National Science Foundation grant awarded to the Institute for Women in Trades, Technology and Science.

The three-year project is designed to attract women into non-traditional careers in technology and engineering. Recent studies show that while women represent about 47 percent of the total workforce, they comprise about 29 percent of the technology sector. Through the Women Tech project, Tomball College is demonstrating its commitment to provide the support services and educational programs necessary to prepare women for these traditionally male-dominated careers.

We believe that there has never been a better time for women to succeed in the wide-open technology market and the attractive salaries it offers. Opportunities abound and the obstacles women face in availing themselves of these opportunities are diminishing. By taking advantage of the certificate and/or degree programs offered at Tomball College, women can acquire the skills and qualities sought by employers in fields such as networking, programming, telecommunications and engineering technology.

Through our participation in the Women Tech project, we hope to encourage women to overcome gender stereotypes and consider a career in the important field of information technology.
