Mathematics
Coursework includes three levels of developmental math, College Algebra, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus I, II and III, Linear Algebra, Differential Equations, as well as Statistics, Math for Liberal Arts, Finite Math, Business Calculus and a 6 hour sequence for pre-service elementary teachers. Honors sections in Pre-Calculus and Calculus I are offered in the fall and spring semesters and honors by contract is offered in all calculus courses.
Maximum class size is 35 for college level courses, and lower for developmental courses. Students will get personal attention from instructors who use technology to enhance learning, and take an active role in the continued development of the program.
The mathematics faculty take great pride in the fact that mathematics courses taught at North Harris College enjoy a strong reputation at area universities and that many NHC students have gone on to successful careers in mathematics teaching, engineering and other sciences.
