Sociology and some courses to peak and satisfy student interest in Sociology. Principles introduces the basic elements of society. Social Problems identifies and analyzes contemporary social problems such as issues with the family, government, education and crime. Marriage and Family is a good course for any student dealing with people whether it is as a spouse, friend or co-worker and has an emphasis on fight resolution and communication. Minority Studies discusses how minority groups emerge in the United States and some of the issues dealing with minority standing. Social Psychology focuses on individual behavior as affected by cultural and social factors. Anthropology, a combination of physical and cultural anthropology, focuses on giving students a greater understanding of other cultures as well as their own. All courses in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology are approved as International Studies courses and can be taken for Honors Credit by Contract. The books used in these courses stress multiculturalism.
