This is a companion website designed to accompany Reading Skills Books published by Allyn & Bacon. Topics include Vocabulary in Context, Finding the Main Idea, Supporting Details, Signal Words, Patterns of Organization, Fact and Opinion, Purpose and Tone, Inferences, Argument, and Combined Skills. Each topic contains several exercises. To start, scroll the screen down until the “Select a Topic” pull-down box appears. Select the area (for example, Combined Skills) and then click on “Begin”. Feedback on correct and incorrect answers with explanations is available. Grades can be e-mailed or printed out. (Courtesy of Allyn and Bacon).

"Free and family friendly since 1995". ReDesk provides many interesting links for current news, online dictionaries and encyclopedias, "CIA World Fact Book 2002", "Consumer Info", "American Fact Finder", "Convert Anything". Students can find references quickly for research projects.

The practice test contains five reading passages and should be finished in 30 minutes. The Regents' Reading Test is a test of reading comprehension.

Hosted by Dartmouth, a private four-year liberal arts institution, this website allows visitors to watch video presentations online. The titles of the video tapes are “Time Management”, “Notetaking”, “Stress Management”, “Reading Improvement”, and “Strategic Learning. QuickTime Player for Mac and Windows is required for viewing.
