Computer Information Technology
The information technology certificate is designed for those with little or minimal computer training and allows students to choose an area of concentration from the more advanced specialty certificates. The computer core courses allow students to explore technology software, hardware and telecommunications before deciding on an area of specialization. The specialty certificates designed for those who want advanced skills include: Personal Computer Desktop Support, Microsoft Networking, Programming Specialist, Network Security, Database Administration, Mid-range Computing (AS/400), E-Business Web Developer
Engineering Design Graphics Technology
Students will learn the technical skills and knowledge to perform essential design layout, prepare supporting documentation, and finished engineering documentation for production in the engineering, construction, or manufacturing industries.
Geographic Information Systems
The Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Department at North Harris College is the gateway to high-demand, rewarding careers applying GIS in industry, business, research and government. GIS is the management, analysis, and visualization of spatial or geographic data.
HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration)
Study the mechanical and electrical/electronic systems involved in contemporary environmental controls. HVAC&R program prepares the student for entry-level employment in the residential or light commercial heating and air-conditioning service industry.
Hospitality Management
Our hospitality management program provides students with an exciting opportunity to learn skills in customer service, decision-making, analysis and planning that are essential for managers and supervisors in one of the fastest growing areas of our economy: hospitality services.
Interpreter Training
The Interpreter Training Technology program prepares graduates for entry-level careers as American Sign Language/English Interpreters. Its goal is to provide graduates with a strong academic and technical foundation and the interpreting skills necessary for state certification.
Medical Assisting
This new program is designed for students interested in working directly with patients in a physician office or other non-hospital setting.
Music
The NHC music program prepares you for an associate of arts degree, as well as for transfer to any four-year university. A full music curriculum is available, including music theory, sight singing, ear training, music literature, class piano, performing ensembles, and applied music instruction.
Professional Office Technology
The Professional Office Technology program prepares graduates in office management and procedures necessary to succeed in the fast-paced business world. You will learn time management, human resources, filing procedures, and oral and written business communications.
Visual Communications
Our visual communications program trains today's digital designer in the communication media of the future. This program provides students with skills needed for careers in commercial art, design, desktop publishing, web design, 3D animation, multimedia development, video, and post production.
Welding Technology
This program prepares the student for a career as a welding technician in the fabrication, construction and manufacturing industries. Student are exposed to basic metallurgy and inspection procedures, and are prepared for entry-level employment as a structural welder learning essential skills and safety practices in welding procedures in structural plate and pipe.
